Scott Eastman's Biography

Scott Eastman is a travel and assignment photographer based in Seattle Washington. He earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree in photography from Washington University in St. Louis in 1994, where he was also an instructor of photography. His work is available through eastmanphoto.com and through his stock agency. His photos have been published and exhibited in Europe, Iceland and the United States and are represented in private collections in Germany, Japan, Canada and the U.S. Currently he shoots with a 16.7 megapixel digital slr camera that allows him to shoot quickly and intuitively while maintaining the quality that he was used to achieving through medium and large format cameras. “My goal is to always find a balance between technical proficiency, artistic creativity and an understanding and connection with my subject, so that I can create powerful and moving photographs.”

Scott enjoys traveling in other cultures; spending enough time to get off the main path and establish friendships with the people he meets on his journeys. “Listening and absorbing what people have to say and share helps to make more compelling photos and often leads to explorations that I would never find on my own.&rdquo Teaching and sharing both his photographic knowledge and cultural experiences is a joy for Scott that provides constant inspiration and a fresh perspective.
